Description:

  • The Schountz laboratory has a full-time 3 year post-doctoral fellowship opportunity for a highly motivated viral immunologist interested in examining T cell responses of bats to viruses. A principal focus of the project is to address questions about CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses of bats using live SPF bats from established breeding colonies, by leveraging single-cell analysis (e.g., flow cytometry, single-cell RNA-Seq). Experience with RNA viruses is helpful, particularly coronaviruses, paramyxoviruses and orthomyxoviruses.  An example of the direction of this project can be found at https://journals.plos.org/plospathogens/article?id=10.1371/journal.ppat.1011728.  Required qualifications are:

  • A PhD in adaptive immunity or related field
  • Ability  to pass the CDC Select Agent Background Check
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States by start date of employment; the Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position
