Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis

The Department of Molecular Microbiology at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine is recruiting faculty at the Assistant Professor level. We are particularly interested in scientists pursuing fundamental aspects of microbiology with an emphasis on host-pathogen interactions, emerging infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, structural biology and women’s infectious disease. Applicants with bold new perspectives and ‘outside the box’ approaches, particularly those focused on interdisciplinary, collaborative research are strongly encouraged as are those from members of groups that are typically under-represented in science. Candidates working on infectious diseases related to women’s health would also be appointed to the Center for Women's Infectious Disease Research Washington University offers an intellectually exciting, collegial, and supportive environment with robust graduate and post-doctoral programs and extensive opportunities for interdepartmental collaboration and entrepreneurship. We are home to a uniquely broad and interactive microbial pathogenesis community that spans the university, supported by vibrant and integrated centers which further enrich the intellectual environment. Enhanced biocontainment (BSL3) laboratories and outstanding core facilities including genomics, small-molecule screening, imaging, Cryo-EM, mass-spectrometry, high-performance cluster computing and vivarium are available. In addition to developing a vigorous, cutting-edge, externally funded research program, teaching of graduate and professional students will be required.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline, and a strong publication record.
