  • Post Doctoral Position - Academic
Job Type/Arrangement:
  • Full Time

The laboratory of Dr. Cary Moody at UNC-Chapel Hill has two NIH funded post-doctoral positions available immediately in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The Moody lab is part of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our lab studies the life cycle of cancer-associated human papillomaviruses (HPV), with the goal of identifying virus:host interactions that contribute to viral replication and persistence. Projects in the lab are focused on understanding how the HPV life cycle is epigenetically regulated; how HPVs activate and use DNA  damage response pathways for viral replication; and the interplay between the DNA damage response and the innate immune response in infected cells. Additional projects focus on how R-loops and long non-coding RNAs contribute to the life cycle of HPV as well as the herpesviruses EBV and KSHV, which are also associated with several human cancers.

We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent technical  and communication skills, work independently and in a self-directed manner.  Candidates must have a PhD with strong experience in molecular biology, virology, immunology, or cell biology. Interested applicants should send a CV, along with a cover letter containing a statement of research.  Please send your application to
