  • Post Doctoral Position - Academic
Job Type/Arrangement:
  • Full Time

The Shah Lab at the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of California Davis, seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to study the role of virus-host protein interactions in Zika virus replication and pathogenesis. The Shah Lab ( uses integrative approaches (including proteomics/biochemistry, cell-based replication assays, and animal models) to identify flavivirus-host interactions and characterize them functionally.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will perform NIH-funded research on the following fronts:

1) Assessing the impact of mutations in host and viral proteins on Zika virus replication and pathogenesis in vivo

2) Establishing a 96-well screening platform for host factors impact on Zika virus replication using RNAi or CRISPRi

Candidates must hold a PhD in virology, microbiology, or closely related fields by the start date and lead-author publication(s) in virology. Candidates must also have strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Prior experience in mouse infection models is required.

Experience with flavivirus biology, biochemistry, neurodevelopment, RNAi or CRISPR screening is a plus.
