Postdoctoral fellow in the Georgia State/Emory AViDD Antiviral Countermeasures Development Center (AC/DC)

Georgia State University

  • Post Doctoral Position - Academic
Job Type/Arrangement:
  • Full Time
Several postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Dr. Richard Plemper, MPI of the newly established Georgia State/Emory AC/DC that is funded by the NIH AViDD program. The Plemper lab develops orally available antivirals against SARS-CoV-2, related beta-coronaviruses, influenza viruses, and paramyxoviruses with high pandemic potential. Our research spans all stages of pre-clinical drug development, including biochemical polymerase assays, the identification of druggable molecular targets, lead development, mechanistic characterization, and efficacy evaluation in animal models and human organoids.

We seek highly motivated applicants with a strong desire to advance basic scientific discoveries to applicable antiviral drugs. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team in the Center for Translational Antiviral Research at Georgia State University. A sound foundation in biochemistry, cell biology and/or molecular virology is essential. Candidates seeking training in in vivo pathogenesis and human organoid models are particularly encouraged to apply. Appreciation of hard rock would be an asset, but is not required.

The city of Atlanta is a vibrant biomedical research hub, combining big-city life with a unique research infrastructure, affordable cost of living and a pleasant climate.

To apply, send a cover letter outlining past research accomplishments and training goals, CV, and the contact information of three references to Dr. Richard Plemper at
