Fox Chase Cancer Center

About Us:

Postdoctoral Associate in Influenza Pathogenesis and Cell Death The Balachandran laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to pursue exciting projects centered on the mechanism and role of cell death during influenza A virus (IAV) infections. Specifically, the lab has identified pathways of RIPK3-driven necroptosis and apoptosis triggered in IAV-infected cells, and now looks to explore how these pathways are activated, in which cell types they operate, and how they contribute to immune responses, as well as to pathogenicity. Potential projects will utilize proteomic, CRISPR-based screening, and virological approaches to identify new nodes in these pathways, and to determine their significance in antiviral immune responses in vivo. Please see Nogusa et al. Cell Host Microbe, 2016; Thapa et al. Cell Host Microbe, 2016 for examples of the research carried out in the laboratory. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D., with training in IAV Biology, host-pathogen interactions, and/or innate immunology. Prior experience with IAV in cell culture and/or in vivo mouse models of virus pathogenesis will be essential. Familiarity with techniques in cell biological and signal transduction research is an advantage. Please email CV, a cover letter stating research interests, and names of three references to Siddharth.balachandran@fccc.edu.
