A postdoc position is immediately available (start date negotiable) in the laboratory of Dr. Mark Manzano at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences ( Our team is looking for a highly motivated virologist, molecular biologist or cancer biologist who is interested in investigating tumor virology using functional genomics and CRISPR technologies. Good communication skills, and experience in molecular biology (cloning, RNA work, Western blots, cell culture) are required. Experience in viruses, next generation sequencing, and genomics are a plus but not required.

Qualifications and desired skills

A recent degree (no more than 3 years) of Ph.D, D.V.M, or M.D is preferred. Successful candidates are highly motivated, pay attention to detail, and have good oral and written communication skills using English that include presenting at scientific conferences and writing scientific manuscripts. The applicant must be able to design, conduct, and trouble-shoot experiments independently using scientific approaches. Routine work conducted in our lab include molecular cloning, RNA analyses, Western Blot, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, lentiviral infections, cell culture, CRISPR-based genetic manipulation, and next generation sequencing.
