University of Calgary

About Us:

The Corcoran Lab is a lively, productive, and growing virology laboratory interested in virus-host interactions using two model systems: the oncogenic herpesvirus, KSHV, and human coronaviruses including SARS-CoV-2. Our lab relies on recombinant virology and cutting-edge molecular biology techniques to discover how these clever pathogens reprogram our cells. The Corcoran lab is a welcoming and inclusive work environment where trainees receive weekly guidance and mentorship from Dr. Corcoran. Postdoctoral scholars will have the opportunity to further develop skills in molecular cloning/recombinant virology, primary cell culture, advanced fluorescent microscopy techniques including fluorescent in situ hybridization, and RNA sequencing. In addition, the postdoctoral scholar will be provided with career development opportunities including but not limited to the mentorship of junior trainees working on the project. Interested applicants should contact Dr. Jennifer Corcoran via email jennifer.corcoran@ucalgary.ca. Inquiries must include a cover letter summarizing the applicant’s relevant experience and the reason for their interest in the position as well as a detailed curriculum vitae and the contact information for three academic references.
