About Us:
wo NIH-funded POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS are available in the laboratory of Dr. Shannon Kenney at the University of Wisconsin, Madison to investigate the mechanisms by which the human herpesvirus, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), causes B cell lymphomas such as Hodgkin lymphoma and Burkitt lymphoma, and epithelial cell tumors such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and gastric carcinoma. Projects include the use of humanized mouse models to dissect the roles of specific EBV proteins in promoting different types of EBV-induced B-cell lymphomas, single cell RNAseq analysis to dissect how type 1 versus type 2 EBV afffect cellular gene expression, and examining how EBV contributes to development of epithelial cell cancers using a newly developed in vitro normal oral keratinocyte model. We use a wide range of techniques to explore EBV-induced transformation and pathogenesis, including sophisticated humanized mouse models, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, RNAseq, epigenetic analysis, mutagenesis, and cell culture transformation models. Strong background in molecular and cell biology and/or virology, as well as excellent written and oral communications skills are required. Enthusiastic applicants with a recent Ph.D. and experience in molecular biology, immunology, immunohistochemistry, animal models and/or tumor biology are strongly encouraged to apply.
