The Department of Molecular Medicine is seeking candidates for a faculty position (equivalent of tenure track) to develop, study and test gene therapy approaches for clinical indications and translate those findings into human testing. Examples of responsive research areas include but are not limited to: (i) Gene replacement using CRISPR technology, (ii) Viral delivery of transgenes to correct mendelian disorders, or augment immune function, (iii) creation of synthetic phages to target and kill drug resistant pathogens without the occurrence of resistance to the phage therapy. Other research topics will be entertained, but to be competitive must be in alignment with gene delivery to ameliorate human disease and must be focused towards clinical application.


The Department of Molecular Medicine is actively engaged in research and education to build a premier virus, gene and cell therapy program and to translate promising therapeutics from bench to bedside in a timely manner. This recruitment is part of the Mayo Clinic strategic plan for 2030 to cure, connect, and transform healthcare. We seek an individual who has an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with additional postdoctoral training that includes work in an appropriate, related discipline. We are particularly interested in applications from those who demonstrate a diverse understanding of biology and disease and who have creativity to pursue original transformative research to ameliorate human disease.  Prior research accomplishment as evidenced by high quality publications, and prior success in peer reviewed funding is essential.
