We are currently seeking a Virologist to support our LSR business. This position will be located in West Jefferson, OH. The incumbent will be required to:
Perform research and analysis of data to include assessment of in vitro susceptibility and in vivo efficacy studies of novel small molecule and biological antiviral candidates.
Interact with clients to develop new capabilities and assist in the development of novel antiviral candidates.
Identify problems and develop recommendations for process improvements.
Extract information from existing databases or literature and performs reviews.
Performs assignments of moderate complexity by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.
Interprets, compiles, and analyzes data collected and writes various technical reports.
Troubleshoots the testing process when expected results are not obtained.
Recommends and executes paths forward to resolve analysis problems.
Completes assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.
Assists with proposal efforts as needed.
Builds relationships with internal clients.
Has contact with external clients.
Contributes to Internally funded R&D studies.
Develops moderately complex processes or testing methods to improve quality or efficiency.
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
Master’s or PhD in Microbiology/Virology or related field.
Prefer 1-2 years of post-degree relevant experience.
Strong experience with virology methods and procedures.
Experience developing new and troubleshooting assays.
U.S. citizen with the ability and willingness to obtain security clearance
Ability to obtain/maintain certification in Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (NACLC required) and/or Biological Personnel Reliability Program (Single Scope Background Investigation required for entry- this is background investigation performed for DoD TOP SECRET clearances), and Biological Suitability Assessment Program.
Ability to obtain/maintain DoJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval.
Ability to obtain/maintain CDC approval to work with BSAT material.
Able to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and/or 3 (BSL3) (biocontainment) environment and wear appropriate respiratory protection.
Must be willing to be immunized with FDA licensed vaccines and Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents.
Participate in random drug screening.
