A post-doc position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Jia Liu at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (https://mbim.uams.edu/faculty/primary-faculty/jia-liu-ph-d/). We are a world-class poxvirology lab studying how virus-host interactions impact immune responses. We are seeking a highly motivated cell biologist, immunologist, or virologist, who has the ability to adopt multi-disciplinary techniques and is interested in investigating host cellular and immune responses to viral infections. We are looking for a team player that is excited about studying host-virus interactions and has good communication skills. Experience in molecular biology and cell biology is required; other desirable experience includes being proficient with fluorescent microscope, proteomics, and at handling rabbits and mice.
Qualifications and desired skills
A recent degree (no more than 4 years) of Ph.D, D.V.M, or M.D is preferred. Successful candidates should be highly motivated, pay attention to detail, and have good oral and written communication skills using English, which include presenting at scientific conferences and writing scientific manuscripts. A successful applicant is eager to learn and can work with others. The applicant must be able to design, conduct, and trouble-shoot experiments independently using scientific approaches. Routine work conducted in Liu lab include RT-PCR/RT-PCR array, Western Blot, proteomics, flow cytometry, ELISA, genetics related experiments (e.g., cloning), confocal microscopy, mutagenesis, and animal work.
