Postdoctoral Research Associate – Hepatitis B Virus Replication and Host Interaction

Morgridge Institute for Research

Categories:
  • Post Doctoral Position - Academic
Job Type/Arrangement:
  • Full Time
Description:

The Ahlquist laboratory (Morgridge Institute for Research and McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research) is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral research associates to join our studies of the molecular mechanisms of hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication and host interactions. HBV causes most liver cancers, the third leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and encodes a remarkable array of functions with broad implications for disease, cell biology and biotechnology. Outstanding project opportunities are available based on strong foundations in our research and that of our collaborators. These include new roles of key HBV proteins, new facets of HBV–host interactions, and further dimensions in HBV molecular biology. Our studies in these areas are developing and integrating new approaches in molecular genetics, biochemistry, cutting-edge light and cryo-electron microscopy, computational biology, and other areas.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a well-equipped, interactive research environment on the UW-Madison campus. They will find fertile project foundations, opportunities to collaborate with leading groups in and beyond UW-Madison, and support for growth in creative and critical thinking, vision, communications, and other areas essential for varied research careers. We offer an outstanding work environment built around multi-disciplinary approaches, state-of-the-art facilities, and team science. UW-Madison consistently ranks among the top U.S. research universities and the City of Madison among the ‘best places to live in the US’ with a diversity of cultural and outdoor opportunities. In addition to competitive salary, health benefits, etc., Morgridge postdoctoral positions also provide the rare advantage of retirement benefits.
