Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB)

Postdoctoral Fellowship

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Laboratory of Immune System Biology within the NIAID Division of Intramural Research (DIR) located on the main NIH Campus in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking candidates for an experimental biology postdoctoral fellow position within the Computational Systems Biology Section. This fully funded position will allow the successful candidate to work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment as part of a team of experimentalists and computational modelers.

The postdoctoral project’s focus will be on innate immune signaling (particularly through toll-like receptors) and pathway crosstalk. This project is integrated into a collaboration with laboratory sections working on cell signaling (Iain Fraser), proteomics (Aleksandra Nita-Lazar) and microRNA (Stefan Muljo). Combining experimental work with training in computational modeling, this position will offer a unique opportunity to acquire a well-rounded interdisciplinary skill set.

Requirements

•    Standard cell- and molecular-biological techniques

•    Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment

•    Interest in quantitative biology approaches

•    Good communication skills

Some experience with microscopy would be a plus. Prior experience with innate immune signaling is a plus but not required.

To apply, interested candidates should send their curriculum vitae (CV), bibliography, three references who may be contacted for letters, and a short statement about their skill set to Dr. Martin Meier-Schellersheim at mschellersheim@nih.gov.
