The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Iowa State University (ISU), in Ames, Iowa is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Virology within the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (VMPM). VMPM provides teaching and research in immunology, infectious diseases, bacterial and viral pathogenesis, host-microbe interactions, vaccine development, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and public health.
Responsibilities of this 9-month, tenure-track position include establishing and maintaining an active, extramurally funded, independent research program focused on virology in an area complementary to established programs in the department (75%); contribute to the teaching needs of the VMPM department (20%); and perform university service (5%). Areas of research aligned with the mission of VMPM include, but are not limited to: mechanisms of resistance to viral and bacterial infections, vaccinology, genomics, proteomics, and host/pathogen interactions. Teaching responsibilities may lie within the undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional veterinary curriculum.
