Description:

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

The Legislative Affairs and Correspondence Management Branch in the Office of Communications and Government Relations (OCGR), Office of Science Management and Operations, NIAID, seeks a highly skilled individual with the ability to conduct analyses of scientific programs and policies for a scientific information analyst position opening soon in OCGR.

OCGR values coordination across all NIAID Divisions and NIH – working together as a team to provide support to accomplish NIAID’s scientific mission.

The responsibilities of the scientific information analyst position include the following:

• Participate in the drafting, clearing, and approval process of major documents such as congressional reports, response letters from HHS agencies and other NIH Institutes and Centers, talking points, information advisories, and other high-level documents

• Use scientific and other technical knowledge, such as expertise in biology, immunology, virology, and genomics, to review, analyze, and interpret complex scientific and research program-related materials, reports, congressional and other correspondence, and other documents

• Brief senior NIAID leadership and program officials about matters of scientific and programming content, topics, and issues that may be reflected in the dissemination of information to external sources, and recurring and special activities

Required Qualifications

U.S. citizenship or certificate of U.S. naturalization

You must have a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.)
