Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Summer Faculty
Division of Intramural Research
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Division of Intramural Research (DIR), NIAID, seeks outstanding academic scientists to serve as faculty in a summer sabbatical program within NIAID DIR laboratories.
Available positions are located in Bethesda, Maryland; Rockville, Maryland; and Hamilton, Montana.
DIR scientists conduct basic, clinical, and translational research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. See more information about DIR.
DIR seeks academic faculty to open new collaborations with NIAID DIR laboratories through summer projects. These collaborations will not only be bench driven but also will include mentoring for NIAID fellows with insight and guidance on careers in academia. Investigators are expected to encourage the exchange of ideas for recruiting, mentoring, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) for individuals in the extramural and intramural research communities. Selected investigators would have access to equipment and expertise that may not be available at home institutions.
