Description:

The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to focus on virus-host interactions, particularly related to the cancer-related viruses like Human Papillomavirus, and emerging viruses as well. Studies in the joint research laboratory for Dr. Jian Xie and Dr. Pengwei Zhang are focused on the virus-host interactions in infections and innate immunity, and develop novel antiviral therapeutics (Xie et al, Science Advances 2021; Xie et al., Cell Reports 2020; Zhang et al, PNAS 2020; Zhang et al., Cell 2018). The successful candidate will be provided mentor-based training and take advantage of the breakthrough knowledge and technologies developed by the PIs. The individual will design and perform virology, biochemistry, and cell and molecular biology experiments in the fields of virus-host interactions. The individual will be involved in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; oral presentation of data at local, state, and national meeting; manuscript preparation, and grant writing; overseeing graduate students and other operation duties as appropriate. The individual is expected to the creative and innovative in designing new ideas to the projects. Salary is commensurate with experience and NIH guideline for Postdoctoral researchers.
