The Hyser Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician III. This laboratory performs basic and clinical research related to gastrointestinal (GI) virus replication, cell-host interactions and pathogenesis. A new project is continuing to examine how host signaling pathways are reprogrammed by viruses ad viral ion channels using live imaging of calcium signaling in infected cells and organoid cultures. These studies enable us to dissect host-virus interactions and potentially identify new targets for drug development. This Research Technician will be heavily involved in the studies that pertain to two GI viruses, human rotavirus and norovirus, but will also support postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in their focused molecular biology experimental research projects. The Research Technician will also be central for running and organization of the lab and perform a variety of experimental techniques under general supervision.
