Description:

An enthusiastic Research Specialist (RS) to implement and assist on the completion of studies focused on the pathogenesis and vaccine development targeting respiratory pathogens such as influenza, coronavirus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In addition, help the laboratory in preparing laboratory reagents, record keeping, ordering supplies and prepare manuscripts for publication.

Practical knowledge of viral isolation, propagation, gene cloning, bacterial cultures will match the needs of ongoing projects at Talaat’ laboratory.  Ability to work with pathogens (bacteria and virus) and laboratory animals (e.g. mice and chickens) under Biosafety level-2 and BL3 is required.  Computer skills, DNA sequence analysis and database searches as well would be helpful. 

Minimum of 1 year research experience in projects related to pathogenesis or vaccine development of viruses and their testing in animals such as chickens, mice and other rodents.

Education Requirement:
Required: Bachelor's Degree with substantial experience in microbiology or related fields Preferred: Master's Degree with focus in microbiology, virology, molecular biology, or related fields.

Salary:
Minimum $39,400 ANNUAL (12 months), Depending on Qualifications
