Description:

The Department of Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology (MPIM) (http://medicine.tamhsc.edu/mpim/index.html) at the Texas A&M University, School of Medicine is now recruiting tenure track faculty at the level of Assistant and Associate Professor with a full-time, eleven month academic appointment and an anticipated start date of September 1, 2023 (negotiable start date). Candidates should bring research expertise that builds on core strengths in the department including bacterial and viral pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, immune responses to pathogens and vaccination, innate immunity, and immune-mediated disorders. The MPIM Department nurtures a highly interactive group of faculty and houses several state-of-the-art core facilities including live animal imaging, microscopy, flow cytometry, BSL-2,-3 labs, and excellent AAALAC-accredited conventional, and ABSL-2, ABSL-3 animal facilities. Appointments provide an attractive salary, competitive start-up package and laboratory space. Physician-scientists and applicants with research programs that are translational are also encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will be expected to establish/maintain a leading, externally funded research program, to participate in the training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and to teach professional and graduate students. Numerous opportunities exist for collaborations in basic and clinical sciences as well as interdisciplinary programs with the School of Veterinary Medicine and other components of Texas A&M University and the Health Science Center campuses, including the Institute of Biosciences and Technology in Houston (http://www.ibt.tamhsc.edu/research/ciid/index.html).

Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a PhD, MD, DVM or equivalent in their research discipline.
