Ideally, the research will focus on those pathogens affecting immunocompromised hosts, as well as emerging viruses that cause substantial morbidity and mortality.

This new area of investigation broadens our existing research program, while building new capabilities (e.g., animal models) in this promising field. In addition to active laboratory research pursuits, the incumbent will be a member of the Infectious Disease Consult Team caring for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient departments.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the capability of combining clinical infectious diseases care and research, particularly translational research and will be expected to obtain peer-reviewed extramural research funding once established at Fred Hutch.
