Rutgers University, New Jersey Medical School

Categories:
  • Post Doctoral Position - Academic
Job Type/Arrangement:
  • Full Time
Description:

We are excited to offer an NIH-funded postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Jack Hsu at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in Newark. The Hsu lab aims to contribute to generating novel antivirals to treat infectious diseases based on our understanding of RNA biology. We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team and contribute to multiple projects investigating the role of translational regulation and post-transcriptional modifications in innate immunity and virus replication. Our collaborative projects include studying multiple viruses, with a particular emphasis on SARS-CoV-2 and Zika virus. Our lab uses a combination of biochemistry, molecular virology, and cellular biology techniques coupled with next-generation sequencing and proteomics to address questions in virus-host innate immunity.

The Hsu Lab is part of the Center for Virus-Host-Innate-Immunity (CVHII) at Rutgers-NJMS, which is also part of the Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases (i3D) and the Center for Immunity and Inflammation (CII). The scientific environment is outstanding and provides opportunities to interact with leading scientists studying different areas of innate immunity and infectious diseases at Rutgers. The location also offers excellent opportunities to explore the New York metropolitan area. Multiple positions will be available starting on September 1st, 2023.

Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biological sciences or related fields. Prior experience in RNA biology, molecular virology, and innate immunology is preferred. The successful candidate will receive training in a variety of techniques used in virology, immunology, and cell biology, including BSL3 practices, flow cytometry, tissue culture, confocal microscopy, protein chemistry, and molecular biology. We try to tailor the postdoctoral experience to the individual's goals and interests.

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Jack Hsu (jack.hsu@rutgers.edu) with the subject line "Postdoc position in the Hsu Lab" and include a cover letter addressing their qualifications and interest in the position, a copy of their CV with contact information for three references, and a detailed explanation of why they believe our lab would be a good match for them.

We value diversity, and we are an inclusive environment. We especially encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply.
