A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). The laboratory is primarily focused on vaccine development as well as understanding the pathogenesis of emerging and re-emerging mosquito-borne RNA viruses and SARS-CoV-2 in animal and human cell culture models. The preferred candidate should hold either a PhD, or MD degree or equivalent degree within the last 2 years, with a demonstrable publication record in virology, and/or immunology and animal (mouse) experiments. The candidate should be highly motivated and has good communication and organizational skills.

UTMB is located on Galveston Island, about 50 miles south of Houston, TX. UTMB has many highly collaborative research centers and institutes, including vaccine development, tropical diseases, biodefense and emerging infectious diseases. Its state-of-the-art core facilities include the Galveston National Laboratory with excellent infrastructure to conduct research at BSL2, -3 and -4 on diverse animal models of infectious diseases, as well as arthropod containment facilities to study vector-borne diseases.
