The Shah Lab at the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of California Davis, seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to study the role of virus-host protein interactions in flavivirus replication. The Shah Lab (shahlab.ucdavis.edu) uses integrative approaches (including proteomics/biochemistry, cell-based replication assays, and animal models) to identify flavivirus-host interactions and characterize them functionally.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will perform NIH-funded research on the following fronts:
1) Identifying virus-host protein interactions for yellow fever virus with the mosquito vector, Aedes aegypti.
2) Establishing a 96-well screening platform for host factors impact on flavivirus replication using RNAi or CRISPRi.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a PhD in virology, microbiology, or closely related fields by the start date and lead-author publication(s) in virology. Candidates must also have strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Prior experience in flavivirus biology is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Aedes aegypti cell culture, proteomics, and RNAi or CRISPR screening is a plus.
