Postdoctoral Fellowship or Research Assistant in Virology
A postdoctoral or RA position in the laboratory of David C. Johnson in Molecular Microbiology & Immunology at Oregon Health & Science University is available immediately. This research focuses on human cytomegalovirus, a virus that is normally benign, but causes birth defects in immune naïve newborns and major problems in transplant patients. The projects involve the molecular characterization of the viral glycoproteins that mediate virus entry into cells and identification of virus receptors. These glycoproteins are also important targets for vaccines to protect against HCMV disease in transplant patients and infants.
The candidate should have experience with molecular biology, e.g. producing recombinant DNAs, protein purification, and characterization using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Experience with confocal imaging of cells, large scale cell culture, and construction of recombinant viruses would be major advantages. Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Applicants should apply to Dr. Adam Vanarsdall at: firstname.lastname@example.org with a CV and a short letter of introduction including your future plans and the names and emails of 3 references.
