Description:

The Kielian lab at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine has an exciting opportunity available for a laboratory research technician in our Molecular Virology Lab. Our research addresses the mechanisms of virus infection and virus assembly and transmission, using non-pathogenic viruses as model systems to study these processes at the molecular level (https://sites.google.com/site/kielianlab/ ). The lab has interesting research opportunities and a collaborative and friendly atmosphere.


Requirements: B.A. or B.S. in science. Applicants should have a strong scientific background including extensive lab courses, and excellent quantitative and organizational skills. A strong research background and research experience are needed, but specific experience in virology is not required. Candidates with more extensive research experience (2 years + post-B.S. degree) are welcome. Of greatest importance is a keen drive and interest in helping us advance our research in virus infection mechanisms. The position involves training in and use of a wide variety of methods in molecular biology, virology, cell biology, and protein biochemistry. The position also includes some general lab maintenance and organization, ordering, and maintenance of computer-based records of methods and reagents. The ideal candidate should be willing to make a two-year commitment. Candidates must be available for an in-person interview in New York. Start date: Flexible. June-August 2022 preferred
