Dr. Sutton's Laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Research Technologist position in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences to develop and manage research projects, ensure quality and cost effectiveness, mentor staff, and assist with authoring or co-authoring published documents. The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
Overseeing the day-to-day operations in the lab
Facilitation of reagent ordering
Maintenance of financial records
Supervision of undergraduate researchers
Performing research under the guidance of Dr. Sutton
Supporting the research of the Graduate students and Postdocs in the laboratory
Serving as lab safety officer and responsible for maintaining safety records
This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred). This position will require successful completion of standard background checks.

Must have animal handling experience. In addition to seeking this background, the individual will be responsible for assisting with BSL3 animal studies using high-consequence pathogens. There will also be some work required outside of normal business hours. This position will provide support to Dr. Sutton and others in the lab (including students) as the team pursues COVID and influenza research. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
