Bisect is a dynamic and growing place to work. We are developing multiple, first-in-class, small molecule medicines against challenging targets across a wide range of disease areas particularly antivirals and anti-infectives.
Our efforts have given rise to a constellation of exciting discoveries, spanning hit-generation to preclinical drug development of first-in-class antiviral therapeutics. In 2020 alone we have solved the first-ever X-ray structures of two SARS-CoV-2 proteins that were not seen. We have also developed the first antiviral therapeutic for a virus that causes complications in transplant and immune-compromised patients. Our success is based on the rapid translation of unique clinical and translational insights and integrating structural and biophysical knowledge of disease targets to accelerate the pace of drug development. We pride ourselves on working with interdisciplinary
research groups and partnering with leading drug development teams across the world to realize our mission of improving the lives of patients.
Job Description: Senior-Scientist Virologist
We seek an enthusiastic and knowledgeable virologist, capable of working in a fast-paced, highly impactful, and productive environment. The successful candidate will integrate into an international and multidisciplinary team of scientists to support and advance multiple internal discovery programs. This motivated new team member will support the testing of newly designed antivirals, perform mechanism of action studies, and develop assays to explore fundamentally new aspects of pathogenic viruses that cause human disease.
This position will require deep technical training in molecular virology, exemplary attention to detail, ability to manage and execute multiple projects, and strong communication skills. Prior
background with studying antivirals or inhibitors of viral replication is essential.
Design, develop, and implement molecular-virology assays to meet objectives of ongoing research including viral propagation and infectivity assays. Facility with various readouts of viral replication such as plaque/virus-yield reduction assays, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence and other reporter assays are critical.
Screen and test newly designed antivirals, perform resistance selection and other mechanisms of action studies
Establish and reinforce experimental procedures, synergizing with internal and external collaborators to advance the Company’s pipeline
Collaborate with Medicinal Chemist and Biology teams to make sure assays and experiments are designed optimally, are biologically relevant, and aligned with company goals.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Virology or a related field from an accredited
college or university.
5-8 years of specialized training and research experience in molecular virology.
Industry experience desired
Strong background in assay development and optimization and cell biology
Experience in performing drug screening and Mechanisms of Actions studies
Organized with a strong work ethic and the ability to juggle different tasks
Able to work in a team and willing to communicate effectively to internal and external partners.
