The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a major research component of the NIH, USA, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. The position is available in the Neurotropic Flaviviruses Section of the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases to investigate the molecular basis of viral pathogenesis. The major focus of our laboratory is to study the role of host and viral factors in determining the outcome disease caused by neurotropic flaviviruses. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work on the projects to study the mechanisms of pathogenesis of Zika, West Nile, and Tick-borne encephalitis viruses. The main focus of these projects is to understand/elucidate routes of viral dissemination in the infected host. This full-time research position offers a unique opportunity to work on investigations that range from basic molecular virology to applied vaccinology.

Interested applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.D. and less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Preference will be given to the candidate who has a strong background in molecular virology and immunology and has experience working with viruses and animals. The applicant should have the ability to plan and execute experiments and interpret results independently. Appointment duration is for up to 5 years, renewed on a yearly basis. Stipend is based on education and experience.
