Description:

Postdoctoral positions are available to characterize recently identified enteric viruses associated with  diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhea or graft vs host disease. Studies entail development of culture systems, reverse genetics, and small animal models to define the pathogenic potential of these viruses.  Current efforts focus on multiple viruses from diverse families  such as the Astroviridae, Anelloviridae, and Picobirnaviridae.  For candidates interested in the long term in academic careers, the study of novel viruses provides unique niches to launch independent research programs.
