A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Host-Pathogen Interactions headed by Dr. Masfique Mehedi in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. The lab uses ex-vivo lung-epithelial-cell model for studying host-pathogen interactions aspect of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. The postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research related to RSV replicative cycle, host-pathogen interactions, immunology, COPD, vaccine development, anti-viral therapeutics, and animal model.
This fully benefited position offers competitive compensation commensurate with applicant’s previous experience. The University of North Dakota is located in the city of Grand Forks that retains many of the cultural opportunities of a larger community but with a lower cost of living.
Compensation and Appointment:
Position: Postdoctoral Fellow
Remuneration / Salary: $40,000+/year

Job Summary and Responsibilities:
Applicants should be able to design, execute and troubleshoot experiments and write manuscripts in collaboration with the PI and other lab members. Successful applicant will lead independent projects in a highly supportive and collaborative environment that provides assistance with research projects as well as preparation of grants and manuscripts.
• The qualified applicant must possess a Ph.D. and/or MD with 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience.
• Applicants must have a demonstrable research experience in one or more of the following areas: virology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, cell biology, immunology, animal model, host-pathogen interactions, as evidenced by authored products such as patents or peer-reviewed publications.

• Education or experience in 3D cell culture, live-cell imaging, immunology, transcriptomics, or COPD.
• Strong writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
