The candidate is expected to work independently in a molecular virology laboratory on understanding the mechanisms of hepatitis E virus (HEV) replication and pathogenesis. The candidate will join a diverse group of scientists in the Meng Lab to study the underlying molecular mechanisms of hepatitis E virus-associated liver diseases and extrahepatic manifestation of diseases, determine the immunological factors contributing to hepatitis E virus-associated diseases, and dissect the structural and functional relationship of hepatitis E virus genes.
